Good to know
Which banks does it read?
Bank payment texts in Arabic and English. You can teach it any other bank in a minute, without code, and it captures InstaPay and wallet notifications too.
Do I need to connect my bank account?
No. Masareef reads the texts your bank already sends you. There's no login and nothing to link.
What about cash?
Add it in seconds from the quick-add widget or tile: a keypad opens over whatever you're doing, with Cash already picked, and your usual places a tap away, so cash shows where it went. Star the ones you repeat, like “Coffee 60”, and they become one-tap favourites. Masareef also asks now and then to count your wallet, so cash stays right.
Can it read my receipts?
Yes. Take a photo and it fills in the total, the date and the shop, and keeps the photo with the payment. Every item and its price is remembered too, so you can see where something is cheaper and how its price moved. The reading happens on your phone.
What about other currencies?
Accounts can be in any currency. Amounts count in EGP at today's rate, and there's a converter between any two currencies.
Why does it need to read my messages?
To find the payment texts your bank sends and turn them into your spending. Only texts from banks and payment services are used; everything else is ignored. The app says so before Android asks, and nothing it reads leaves your phone.
What's the difference between the Google Play version and the APK?
Only how your bank's texts get in. The Google Play version asks for notification access and reads them from your texting app's notifications as they arrive; messages from anyone else are dropped at once. The APK from this site asks for SMS access instead, and can also import the texts already on your phone. Everything else is the same, and a backup from one restores in the other.
Which subscriptions does it know?
More than 80, from Netflix, Shahid, WATCH IT and Anghami to iCloud, ChatGPT, talabat pro and Careem Plus, each with its own logo. Anything else that repeats is found after a few payments.
Can it help me cancel subscriptions?
Each subscription has a “How to cancel” button that opens the right page, and a free trial gets an alert two days before it turns paid. Once you say you cancelled, a new charge from it raises an alert, so you can ask for your money back.
I'm waiting for a refund. Can it keep an eye on it?
Yes. Mark the payment as expecting money back and you'll be told when the refund lands. If nothing comes after two weeks, it reminds you to call the bank or the shop.
Does it catch Fawry, Aman or Masary payments?
Yes. Their payment texts are read like a bank's and filed under Bills.
Is it on iPhone?
Not yet. iPhones don't let apps read texts, so Masareef is Android only.
What if I change phones?
Back up to one file and restore it on the new phone. Everything comes with you. Backups are locked with a password you choose, so keep it somewhere safe: nobody can open them without it.
Will a transfer show up twice?
No. When InstaPay and your bank both report the same transfer, even hours apart or with the fee added, it's kept as one payment, with the bank's figures.
My bank texts me every time I log in. Will Masareef keep telling me about those?
Only once. Dismiss one and choose “Don't show these”, and texts worded like it from that bank stop being listed or notified. You can bring them back in Settings.
